There has been a lot going on in my life lately. If you're tight with me then you know some of the details, and if you're not, be glad, because I wish I could excuse myself from my own life right now. Needless to say, these circumstances and stresses have resulted in a lot of internal struggles and lots of thinking for me. Thankfully, I'm one of those people that clings to God with a death grip the harder things seem to be.
I think most of the struggle has come from feeling helpless or not equipped to handle what is being thrown my way. In the back of my mind, I kept telling God this phrase, "I don't know what to do, but my eyes are on you." I knew it was from Scripture, so I decided to look it up, imagine that. :)
I'm trying to keep this short, so I'll encourage you to read all of chapter 20 later for the back story.
2 Chronicles 20:12, 15b, 17
For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you...
Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's...
You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.
I realize that I'm not facing a vast army outside my office door, like Jehoshaphat, but a spiritual battle is definitely underway. I'm not fighting alone; God is with me. Thank goodness because I've got nothing on my own. He's also given me some pretty great friends too.
No matter what you are facing, big or small, God is capable of handling the situation. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." Remember to pray A LOT, read Scripture, and when you feel like you can't push forward anymore...ask your friends to pray with you.
Good post. So applicable, too.
